Another successful Rollers Bowls Day

The West Coast Rollers took to the bowling greens of Mowbray on Saturday for their 11th annual Bowls Day.

Twenty-eight teams took part, and in the end it was Steven le Roux and his Cape Style team who took the honours, beating Rollers captain Michael van Dewenter’s ‘Troepe’ in the final. Special mention must go to Big Mike and his excellent display of ‘choking’ on the deciding, play-off bowl …

Ryan Cooper’s ‘OG Bowlers’ finished third (he himself not handling the pressure all that well), while Hannes Moore’s ‘Come As You Are’ finished fourth on a count-out.

Special shoutout to Team ‘Dynomite’, who didn’t break character all day and dinosaur outfits for the better part of seven hours! Unsurprisingly, they walked away with the Best Dressed award.

Then, a big, big thanks to the Cape Style Wine team for their continued support of the Rollers Bowls Day - it is greatly appreciated! And thank you to sponsors of various other prizes - Hidros South Africa, Fairfield Tours, Cape Town Culinary Tours and Hi-Tec.

Finally, but most certainly not least, to Tom and his team at Mowbray Bowls Club. Our first event there was in 2010, and 13 years later their commitment to giving everyone the best time remains unwavering.
