Nine bowlers, a keeper and Tim …

The Rollers juggernaut continued unabated this weekend with another comprehensive victory, this time against the judges and politicians of Spin Doctors.

On a perfect day at the perfect setting which is Camps Bay High School, Neville Cooper won the toss and decided to field on a pitch which (he says with a massive amount of understatement) had a tinge of green about it.

But snakepit or not, there was no dealing with the searing pace of Cornell Keulder, who bowled with some rare aggression (perhaps trying to further impress his on-looking fiancée?). In fact, the slip cordon looked more like fly-slips than anything conventional.

At the other end, Andrew Young (4-0-5-1) had to wait for the ageing bones before he found any rhythm. In fact, his first ball would have hit second slip had it been quick enough to actually get there.

But he made early breakthrough before Herman and Tengo put on a VERY pedestrian partnership of 75, thwarted by some tight bowling and very sharp fielding.

Hannes Carlson eventually ended their vigil with a peach of a delivery, finishing with 2/20 in his six overs, before the skipper gave everyone (well, almost) a chance to turn their arms over and show what they can do.

Dewald Human impressed with 2/12 from three, while Francois Siebrits was even better, picking up 2/2 in his two overs as Spin Doctors just managed to crawl past the 100-run mark.

Ryan Cooper opened the batting with some guy who looked a lot like George Kamfer, but who could actually hit the ball off the square. Ryan was out for 10, but this new character, let’s call him ‘Boom Boom’, continued to flay the bowling to all parts (well, third man) before an amazing caught and bowled effort ended his stay.

That brought Tim Sant and Neville to the crease and, after an initial two-over spell where the latter looked like he was battling with rollerblades on, they took a liking to the bowling and duly finished the game with 17 overs to spare thanks to a breezy 60-odd run stand.

Predictably, the opposition didn’t hang around too long, but the Rollers made the most of the beautiful day, dispatching Francois to Harley’s Bottle Store and having a few fines on the school grounds, basking in the glory of another victory under the belt.
