Ryan Cooper claims top prize at Rollers awards

Ryan Cooper walked away with the Player of the Season award at the Rollers end-of-season function on Saturday night.

Held at the Durbanville Baseball Club, it was an evening to remember amid a spate of prizes, down-downs and dancing – and an injury or two.

Ryan, who also won the Best Batsman award for his 490 runs at an average of 70, saw off stiff challenges from the likes of Cornell Keulder, Andrew Young, Neville Cooper and James Lamprecht.

Cornell did win the Best Allrounder award (16 wickets, 135 runs) for the third year running, while Andrew’s 17 wickets (12.5 average) saw him regain the bowling trophy.

James was not to be outdone though, claiming the coveted Players’ Player of the Season, as voted for by his teammates.

Ruan de Jongh also won the Best Fielder award for a second year running.

A big thanks for everyone who showed up and made the night so memorable. A special thanks to Debbie and Kevin van Wyk for the catering, and to Carmen Cooper for the organising and decorating.
