The West Coast Rollers’ belated end-of-season awards took place this past weekend, with Ryan Cooper and Nicky Rheeder claiming the top prizes.
COVID regulations meant our usually rowdy season-ending party in April was replaced by a more circumspect event in mid-October, where Ryan won both the Player of the Season and Batsman of the Season awards after scoring 442 runs in 10 innings at 63, including two hundreds.
Nicky was named Best Allrounder for averaging 30 with the bat and 21 with the ball, while also claiming the coveted Players’ Player of the Season award.
Cornell Keulder was awarded the Bowler of the Season, having taken 10 wickets at 12 apiece (3.1 RPO), and Johann Roux was named Best Fielder after snaffling four screamers.
James Lamprecht walked away with the trophy for Best Performance for his 110 (off 93 balls) against Black Bats.
In the ‘not-so-lekker’ awards, Neville Cooper claimed the Bucket Award, having spilled five catches, while Mark Haselau was named Duck Farm Chairman. Hannes Moore walked home with the Claude Louw Medic Award, having spent most of the season on the sidelines after going over his ankle while playing baseball.
